Card Inspiration Journalling page #4

Updated: Aug 31, 2023

Hello crafty people today I'm back with page 4 from my card inspiration journal, this is a quick one, and a fab idea for the super quick cards you need to make.

If you don't know what I'm up to, I had this idea that I wanted to create a reference guide for my card making, so this could be in combination of stamps, layouts, Ink and paint colours so on. So I decided to create my own style of journalling where I can create a journal that inspires me for my card making, then I would always have a reference of stamps, inks, stencils and other items I have used for a project. I am calling this Card Inspiration Journalling.

What is card journaling? This is my concept of journalling It is a mash up of card making and mixed media journaling but the important part is that you log everything you use in your log it book. My "log it" books are available, the links on my website.

This is page #4

Using the robot stamps to create the background in a plain black ink worked really well and was quite striking. If you have any different stamps such as a unicorn or a fun cat, dog anything fun and quirky would work really well in this style of layout.

I do love using my Kopec markers I feel they work really well as they are an artist grave marker. But do remember if you were colouring with alcohol markers do you need to stamp your image in a water-based ink like I have, otherwise the image will start to bleed.

So if you decide to use watercolours instead then you must use a water resistant permanent ink so then the image doesn't bleed. The way I remember what ink to use is it is always the opposite to what I'm using to colour the image.

As a last little touch I decided to use my finger to make inky marks all over the tag where I had stamped and coloured my robot I thought this was a really fun playful way to create a bit more texture on the tag. Don't be scared to use your fingers or anything else in a different way for your projects.

You will often see me using the tiny text Stamp set but Tim Holtz it's so versatile and I always seem to find a small quote or something that works for the project as you can see I've used the sentiment "Limited addition" I thought this was really fun and worked really well with the project.

If this is something that interest you why don't you give it a go too.

I really love using the robot stamp set it's really fun and quirky and really lens it self to those young funky cards you can make, and I seem to be making a lot of them at the moment as my son is five he is going to a different birthday party every weekend (he has more of a social life than I do) if you have any other similar stamps they would work just as well for this very simple quick card.

I am particularly drawn to the robot image because I have robot wallpaper in my front room I think it's really fun and quirky.
