Altenew Academy AECP - All About Layering, Module 1

Updated: Apr 25, 2020

The fun begins!

A few weeks ago I was delighted to have been accepted on to the Level One Altenew Educator Certification Program, This course features 10 classes, each class having a variety of lessons from which to learn new fun ways for you to create your cards.

My first project is "All About Layering 1". The layering concept is key to many of Altenew stamp designs and allows you to achieve a gorgeous 3D effect. All About Layering walks you through the layering process, offering tips on layout and design as well as how to position your stamps.

For my class submission I have chosen this card featuring the Strength Blooms stamp set, following the guide from Lesson 3.

Drawing from the classes as a whole, I wanted a simple look to the card itself with the stamped images being the main focus. The white space I have left gives the stamped images space to pop, while positioning the images at on one side with the pop of colour I feel adds depth to the design.

I have chosen the sentiment "Wish Big" from the Wish Big mini stamp set and stamped in black on to the background, this provides a contrast to the white space of the card.

I have layered the images towards one side and fussy cut around the outer edge so I could layer some colour behind the fussy cut edge, i feel this pop of colour ties the card together.

I am pleased with how this card turned out and I am looking forward to learning more!

Check out my video making this lovely card...
