This project combines the classic art of hand embroidery with a modern contemporary style to make a lovely addition to your home deco. This is a project for all ages.
You will need:
Embroidery thread in colours of your choice
Fabric 8” x 8” (medium weight white linen)
Free pattern
Step 1 Print out the pattern and trace on to the centre of your fabric with a Frixion Pen, if you have trouble seeing it use a light tablet. Practice the Straight stitch and French knot as shown on the template sheet. (The Frixion Pen is a gel pen but your marks will disappear when heat is applied to it from ironing)
Step 2 - Place the fabric into an embroidery hoop.
Step 3 - Trace all of the pattern marks with the Straight stitch and for the tail use the French knot in full the area.
Step 4 - Remove the fabric from the hoop and Iron out any pattern marks.
Step 5 - Before placing it back in to the hoop, draw around your hoop on to some felt and cut out. Now put your piece back in to the hoop and ensure that it is taught.
Step 6 - Trim off the over hanging fabric so that there is enough to adhere this to the inner hoop. Use a glue gun to adhere to the inner hoop and then adhere the felt backing to the back of the hoop to hide the back of the stitches.
Step 7 - Cut a strip of felt approximately 2” x 1”. Apply some glue at each end and place on the back at the top of the hoop. This will act as a hook for hanging.
