Free Pattern -
Step 1 -
Trace the outline of the pattern on to the centre of your fabric with a Frixion Pen or a Water Erasable Pen. If you have problems seeing the pattern through the fabric use a light tablet.
Now place the fabric into an embroidery hoop, ensure that the fabric is taught.
For this project I recommend practicing a Satin stitch, Back stitch and Lazy daisy stitch, example shown on the template pattern.
Step 2 - Using the Satin stitch fill in the cat, I have used black for the cat's spots and White for the rest of the cat. (You can used full or half strands for the entire project.)
Step 3 -
Use the Back stitch for the stem of the flower in green and Lazy daisy stitch for the flower heads in purple.
Step 4 -
I have used a Satin stitch for the flower pot in Orange and the Back stitch for the line the cat and pot are sitting on in Brown.
Step 5 - Remove the fabric from the hoop and Iron out any pattern marks if you have used the Frixion pen or if you have used a water soluble pan spray water onto the fabric and leave to dry.
Step 6 - Before placing the piece back in to the hoop, draw around your hoop on to some felt and cut out.
Now put your piece back in to the hoop and ensure that it is taught.
Trim off the over hanging fabric so that there is enough to adhere this to the inner hoop.
Step 6 - Use a glue gun to adhere to the inner hoop and then adhere the felt backing to the back of the hoop to hide the back of the stitches.
Step 7 - Cut a strip of felt approximately 2” x 1”. Apply some glue at each end and place on the back at the top of the hoop. This will act as a hook for hanging.
